I purchased this hat for my grandson's 11th birthday. Not sure where he saw it, but he put it on his "birthday list" so I decided to get it for him. I'm his grandma! It's a beautiful hat, made well with an interesting history. I love the fact that the hat is part of your collection supporting the Grassland Bird Trust and Mission Support. I was curious, so I looked up American kestrel to find out about its history also. I made a copy about all my findings and included it with the hat! Love it! The brim is slightly longer than I am used to, but gives good coverage from the sun and keeps it from getting in my eyes while birdwatching. I like the interesting adjustable band at the back. Well made of sturdy but not stiff canvas. I am wondering, though, does the life-sized badge of the kestrel head scare away birds? I hadn't considered this before buying.
