In the 1980s, there were fewer than 200 breeding pairs of Kirtland's Warblers left in the world. Now, thanks to decades-long efforts by federal, state and nonprofit agencies like American Bird Conservancy, they've made a comeback to more than 2,000 pairs.
To celebrate this songbird and the incredible work done to conserve it, we commissioned this magical tee from artist Sam Dean Lynn.
Sam is a teacher and artist from Plymouth, Massachusetts who currently lives in Brooklyn. Her interest in birds was sparked by the routine of helping her nana fill her bird feeder as a child, and watching as bird after bird came to snack. Check out more of her work at www.samdeanlynn.com.
