What do you seek to communicate in your work?
In my art I’d like to share images that enable viewers to see the unique and distinctive interconnections of plant and animal species in their natural environments. I’d like viewers to note details that might enable them to recall a fond experience with nature!
How has nature been a source of inspiration for you?
Since I was a child, nature has inspired my artworks. I observe the environment, wherever I am, but especially in my garden, woodlands, open meadows, and the creek near my rural country home. The changing seasons here provide endless art possibilities!
Tell us about your most memorable bird experience.
On a trip to the Florida Keys I had the opportunity to visit a natural wildlife refuge that provides rehabilitative care to native wildlife. One particular area permitted close interactive feeding of tropical birds. The birds were extremely tame, using my hand and arms to perch. Seeing their vibrant colors up close was an amazing experience!
