Red Knot Patch

Product Details

#49 Red Knot

The Red Knot gets its name for its rich summer plumage. Salmon-colored from face to belly, this plump, medium-sized sandpiper feeds on horseshoe crab eggs on its journey north, flying approximately 16,000 miles annually between Tierra del Fuego and the Arctic Circle. Red Knots face grave threats, from the overharvesting of horseshoe crabs to coastal development and climate change.
