What do you seek to communicate in your work?

I create pieces that celebrate the diversity of our Earth’s flora and fauna, while sharing how we can enjoy and learn from our natural world. When I create art with an animal subject I enjoy finding the joyous or simple moments of life, sharing the tranquility and vulnerability of the creatures. I hope to help people see how precious they truly are.

How has nature been a source of inspiration for you?

It feels like everything about nature is my main source of inspiration. How animals move, behave; the complexity of trees, fall leaves, birds; being out in nature and observing every aspect informs and inspires me to make my art.

Tell us about your most memorable bird experience.

It is always hard to pin down one experience with a bird because there are so many birds and each provides such a different and unique experience. One that still captures my mind is watching a raven use traffic to soften up a kill for easier consumption. This was my first time seeing a raven capture and kill a rabbit. After the raven moved the rabbit more onto the edge of the road. It would come and go testing the rabbit after cars drove over it.
