Part-Time Freelance Customer Support Role

We’re looking for a part-time freelance customer support specialist to help us maintain excellent communication with our customers and ensure they have a smooth, positive experience with Bird Collective. While this is a freelance contract role, we’re hoping to find someone interested in a longer-term collaboration and able to integrate this work into their schedule on an ongoing basis.

Position Details

  • Hours: 5–8 hours per week, with potential increases during sales and holidays.
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday. To provide timely support, we ask that customer inquiries be checked and responded to twice daily—once in the morning and once in the afternoon or evening (exact timing is flexible).

Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer inquiries with patience, professionalism, and warmth.
  • Modify, cancel, and troubleshoot orders as needed.
  • Process returns and assist customers with shipping or product issues.
  • File insurance claims for lost or damaged packages.
  • Coordinate with our warehouse team to resolve order fulfillment concerns.
  • Keep records and communications organized using G Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Drive) and Slack.
  • Learn and navigate our online e-commerce, customer support and returns platforms, as well as other relevant apps.

What We’re Looking For

  • Excellent writing skills - clear, professional, and friendly communication.
  • Strong attention to detail – accuracy in order management and customer interactions.
  • Tech-savvy – experience with G Suite and ability to learn new software.
  • Reliable & self-motivated – able to work independently and efficiently.
  • Customer-focused mindset - patient, courteous, and committed to delivering great service.
  • Longer-term freelance availability – we’re looking for someone who can integrate this role into their existing and future schedules and stay with us over time.
