Where do you live?

Vermont

Favorite bird?

Cedar Waxwing (my spark bird)

What do you seek to communicate with your work?

I strive to draw attention to the small miracles that surround us—grasses, flowers, the creatures we share this beautiful planet with. It’s also important to show queer people in nature. We, too, belong on this earth.

How has nature been a source of inspiration for you?

Nature is a constant inspiration to my work. It is ever-changing, so I never feel stuck when I turn to it. It contains sad stories and joyful moments, routine and chance. There is always a story to be found, and always a visual interest.

Tell us about your most memorable bird experience.

In high school, I hiked Mt. Webster in NH with my family. At the summit, we were dive-bombed by several Canada Jays! Clearly, someone had been feeding them (tsk tsk) and they wanted our lunch.
