Meet Artist Lacy Martin

Name:

Sayada Ramdial

Where do you live?

Portland, Oregon

Favorite bird?

Bushtit

Tough to choose, but toucans are adorable! I also love puffins, penguins, hummingbirds, every owl…

Each piece has its own message to communicate. On the whole, I hope people feel something when they see my art, a sense of connection or emotion.

How has nature been a source of inspiration for you?

It’s difficult to imagine NOT being inspired by nature. It’s the source, the alma mater of beauty (and life). I don’t think it’s possible to sever that connection.

Tell us about your most memorable bird experience.

Sitting on a boat in the Caroni Swamp in Trinidad. Watching flocks of scarlet ibises coming in to roost in the mangroves at sunset. Pretty magical.
