Product Details

#86 Rock Pigeon

Walk around any city and you will see Rock Pigeons. They’re in streets and squares, living off discarded food and nesting on buildings and window ledges, under train stations and bridges. Domesticated more than 5,000 years ago, they’ve traveled with us around the world, raised for food and trained for homing, racing, and carrying messages. They were introduced to North America from Europe in the early 1600s. Though the typical city pigeon is blue-gray with two dark wingbars, they come in several other colors and patterns.
