#50 Red-winged Blackbird
Red-winged Blackbirds are one of the most abundant birds in North America. The ringing call of the glossy-black males, who puff up and flare their red-and-yellow shoulder patches, is one of the continent’s harbingers of spring. They claim territory early, just about anywhere with standing water and vegetation, and the streaky-brown females soon follow.
This patch is part of a collaboration with Black Birders Week, an event to showcase the many unique ways Black people connect in the outdoors.

All embroidered bird patches have an iron-on backing, but the adhesive is temporary. For durability, we recommend sewing or using a permanent, flexible fabric glue.
