#37 Prothonotary Warbler

A golden songbird of wooded swamps and lowland forests, the Prothonotary Warbler is said to be named for a group of Catholic clerks who wore bright yellow robes. Unlike other eastern warblers, it nests in tree cavities and will even take birdhouses placed near water. With their beady eyes and blue-gray wings, even the dullest individuals are still a brilliant, unmistakable yellow.

This patch is inspired by Delta Wind Birds, a nonprofit organization that works to protect the swamps of the Mississippi Delta in which Prothonotary Warblers breed.
