Bird Collective Code of Conduct

This code of conduct governs interactions between anyone participating in our events, including leaders.

The ABA Code of Birding Ethics must be followed by everyone participating in our event, in addition to the following:

Respect and promote birds and their environment.

  • Give birds space and be mindful not to stress them.
  • Protect sensitive bird habitat by remaining on paths and trails.
  • Treat all forms of life you encounter on our events with respect.

Respect and promote the birding community and its individual members.

  • Use welcoming and inclusive language.
  • Come with an open attitude and listen to others.
  • Be respectful of differing perspectives, lived experiences, and cultures.
  • Use a person’s correct pronouns, if they are shared.

Respect and promote the law and the rights of others.

Some behavior is unacceptable during our events.

Any participant engaging in unacceptable behavior may be asked to leave the event and/or bebanned from future events. Examples of unacceptable behavior include:

  • Use of sexualized language, unwelcome sexual attention or physical contact.
  • Personal attacks, insults, or derogatory comments.

If you witness a Code of Conduct violation, please send an email to support@birdcollective.com with a description of the event, the individual(s) involved, the behavior, and any evidence, if you have it. All reports will be treated as confidential.
