#R1 Wandering Albatross
This limited edition patch is part of our Rarities series, and is only available to our Monthly Patch Club subscribers. It's the Patch of the Month for April 2023 only, and then it's gone!
The Wandering Albatross has the largest wingspan of any living bird, measuring up to 11 feet. It nests on islands near the Antarctic Circle and on some in the South Atlantic, and in the nonbreeding season it roams the southern oceans for weeks on the wing, living up to its name. The American Birding Association classifies it as Code-5, meaning it has been recorded five or fewer times in the ABA checklist area: North America north of Mexico and the Hawaiian islands.
All embroidered bird patches have an iron-on backing, but the adhesive is temporary. For durability, we recommend sewing or using a permanent, flexible fabric glue.
