Everyone can celebrate Black experiences in nature with this collection, which is a collaboration with Black Birders week 2025. The design features four sparrows, symbolizing the diversity and range of the sparrow family—much like the Black diaspora. Each bird was chosen for its unique story and symbolism:
-
Seaside Sparrow – An endangered species found along the Eastern U.S. coast, overlapping with the area of the Gullah Geechee people.
-
Sudan Golden Sparrow – Commonly found in Sudan, Ethiopia, and Senegal, representing our connection to Africa and compassion for those affected by ongoing conflict in Sudan and other struggles for liberation.
-
Song Sparrow – Ranging across the U.S., from cities to deserts and marshes, representing adaptability.
-
Dark-eyed Junco – Spanning from Canada to Mexico, symbolizing change and resilience.
This year’s design, themed “Grounded in Community,” is a tribute to the Black diaspora—honoring those who have gained, or are still fighting for, liberation and sovereignty around the world.
